Teeth replacement (Prosthodontics)

Tooth loss not only impairs your chewing and digestion of food, it also hampers the way you use to talk, your look, and your personality.....

Dr. Bose’s Dental Clinic serves you a range of solution to let you smile again.

A. Dental Implant              B. Dental Bridge             C. Removable Dentures

1. Dental Implant

Dental implants are the titanium screw like structures placed into the jaw bone to simulate the root part of your missing tooth and it holds the artificial tooth crown. It gives an exactly natural look to the replaced area.

It is usually a 2 step procedure where the implant is first placed into the bone and left for few weeks to get fixed with the surrounding bony part. A temporary removable denture is given for this waiting phase. Finally an artificial crown or series of crowns (if more than two teeth to be replaced) is fixed to the implant.

This is the latest innovation in fixed tooth replacement without touching any other natural teeth.

A single tooth replaced by dental implant costs Rs 25000-40000 depending upon the quality of the implant and material of the crown used.

2. Dental Bridge

This is a non surgical approach to prepare a fixed artificial denture in a shorter time. It takes only 2 appointments in a 4/5 days interval to have a bridge placed.

Usually two adjacent teeth on the either side of the missing area are used as the support of the bridge. They are reduced a bit so as to accommodate the supporting caps (crowns) for the bridge and the final prosthesis is fixed with a bio compatible fixing medium once it is prepared. Sometimes the supporting tooth or teeth may need RCT to be used as a support for a bridge.

Each unit of a bridge costs Rs 5000-18000 depending upon the material used.

3. Removable Denture

This is the conventional way of having a ‘false’ set of teeth. The very name suggests that this need to be worn and removed on a daily basis. It is made of acrylic materials on which the artificial teeth are set.

The person who doesn’t have any natural teeth needs a pair of full dentures. We call it complete denture. Person with a few teeth missing needs a partial denture.

There is a special variety of the removable denture called ‘Flexible Denture’. It is quite softer in comparison to the conventional hard acrylic material and light in weight. Hence the comfort of wearing is much higher than that of conventional acrylic dentures.

It takes usually 2-3 appointments for the partial dentures and the cost is Rs 1500-2000 per tooth. While for complete denture it takes 4-5 appointments and the cost is Rs 22000-26000.
